eBay leads in visits to apparel/beauty sites

eBay accounted for the two top web destinations for apparel and beauty products for the week ended January 4, Nielsen/NetRatings reports.

EBay accounted for the two top web destinations, in terms of number of visitors, for apparel and beauty products for the week ended January 4, according to the NetView report from Nielsen/NetRatings. EBay’s Clothing, Shoes & Accessories site came in first with 2.4 million visitors, followed by eBay’s Jewelry and Watches site with 1.2 million.

Ranked in a distant third place was VictoriasSecret.com, with 615,000 visitors, followed by LLBean.com, with 596,000, and OldNavy.com, with 578,000.

For the same week, the food-and-beverage category garnered the most online advertising impressions, according to Nielsen’s AdRelevance report. Following are the top 10 advertising segments with their number of impressions cited by AdRelevance:
-- Food and beverage, 231.9 million;
-- Apparel and jewelry, 148.4 million;
-- Print publishing, 131.5 million;
-- Personal care, 112.7 million;
-- Home and garden, 41.4 million;
-- Toy and hobby, 30 million;
-- (Other) 14.5 million;
-- Recreational gear, 9.9 million;
-- Automotive supply, 7.2 million.
