Post-Thanksgiving online sales on Visa cards rise 46%

Online retail sales transactions on Visa cards during the first two days after Thanksgiving rose 46% year-to-year, nearly four times the 12% increase for all offline and online sales on Visa cards, the payment card company reports.

Online retail sales transacted with U.S.-based Visa credit and debit cards during the first two days after Thanksgiving rose 46% year-to-year, to $338 million, nearly four times the 12% increase for all offline and online sales on Visa cards, the payment card company reports. Total retail sales on Visa cards rose to more than $6.5 billion from about $5.8 billion.

 

Visa said the number of online transactions on Visa cards for those dates rose 46% year-to-year, to 5.4 million from 3.7 million. It said the average online purchase price for Nov. 28 and 29 was $62.95.
