London-based trade group launches an e-shopping promotion site

London-based Interactive Media in Retail Group today launched a web site to promote online Christmas shopping, e-Christmas.com. It expects to attract 10 million shoppers before it shuts down on Jan. 16.

 

London-based e-retail trade association the Interactive Media in Retail Group today launched a web site to promote online Christmas shopping, e-Christmas.com. It expects to attract 10 million shoppers before it shuts down on Jan. 16.

The site, sponsored by a number of British retailers and Visa International, features a gift selector to help shoppers find appropriate gifts based on the recipient’s characteristics; top 10 gift lists, such as top 10 cool gifts and top 10 phones; links to retailers’ sites; and safe shopping tips.

The trade group says it will continue to develop features throughout the shopping season.

The Interactive Media in Retail Group sponsored an online shopping promotion over the summer with newspaper and TV advertising. The promotion resulted in a 200% increase in online sales in July over July 2002, the group reported.
