Former WalMart.com exec Neil Day joins product data technology company

Neil Day, former senior vice president and CIO of Wal-Mart Stores Inc.’s WalMart.com, has joined Mountain View, CA-based Velosel Corp. as senior vice president of engineering and CTO.

Neil Day, former senior vice president and CIO of Wal-Mart Stores Inc.’s WalMart.com, has joined Mountain View, CA-based Velosel Corp. as senior vice president of engineering and CTO. Velosel provides software for retailers and manufacturers to access up-to-date product information in real time.

Day also was CTO and vice president of engineering at the defunct HomeWarehouse.com, an e-commerce site serving the do-it-yourself and home improvement market. Velosel says Day designed Homewarehouse.com’s technology platform, which was subsequently acquired and implemented by Walmart.com.

Day headed up WalMart.com’s technology strategy, software engineering and site operations, leading the implementation of new technologies and applications. Day was responsible for building the scalable technology platform that has accommodated dramatic growth in customer traffic. He also oversaw the engineering group as it grew from 45 to 175 staffers.

Velosel also recently hired Andrew Hayden as senior vice president, professional services. Hayden most recently was senior vice president, global services, at Commerce One and served as vice president, partner and solution support, and vice president of professional services at SAP Americas.
