Leading provider of back-office software solutions for restaurants unveils completely new Web product
August 12, 2003, Huntington Beach, CA – Today MenuLink Computer Solutions, Inc., introduced its Back Office Assistant.NET, a Web-based version of its award-winning back-office application for the restaurant industry. Representing a complete rewrite of its application, BOA.NET runs on Windows Server 2003 and is completely written using Microsoft Visual Studio .NET 2003. BOA.NET is targeted toward those foodservice operators that want to centrally manage the back-office functions and take advantage of low-cost Internet connectivity, ease of use, and easily deploy software.
"Our objective was to build the best possible centralized system and use the best tools with which to do it. By bringing the newest technologies from Microsoft into our product line, we are offering restaurant operators tools that are state-of-the-art, that will give them new ways to enhance productivity levels and profits and that will reduce total cost of ownership (TCO) by prolonging their IT investments," says Terri Williams, executive vice president of MenuLink.
MenuLink’s BOA.NET represents a quantum leap as the company is the first software provider in the restaurant industry to embrace Windows Server 2003. Because the solution was developed using Microsoft Visual Studio .NET 2003, it features Internet capabilities that are built-in, rather than added-on. Further, the new application leverages aspects of Windows Server 2003, such as the high performance Web engine in Microsoft’s Internet Information Services (IIS) 6.0 and its reliable application hosting.
"MenuLink`s commitment to developing innovative solutions for the restaurant industry is underscored by the fact that it rewrote its application based on the .NET Framework," said Richard Burte, Product Manager for the Developer and Platform Evangelism Division at Microsoft Corp. "Microsoft is excited about MenuLink`s efforts and commitment to the Windows platform and development tools – and their ability to deliver great solutions for their customers."
In addition to having all the capabilities of prior versions of MenuLink’s Back Office Assistant, BOA.NET sports two new features: the ability to segment all food and labor reporting by user defined profit centers, such as dining room, bar, takeout and delivery and multilingual capabilities that allow MenuLink users to choose among four languages (English, Spanish, French and German).
"BOA.NET represents the next evolution of our ongoing mission to offer back-office solutions that adapt to the way restaurant operators operate, be it centralized via the Internet or through a distributed network. It also takes advantage of Microsoft .NET technologies," adds Ronald Whitaker, MenuLink’s president. A testament to that mission came earlier this year when MenuLink was the recipient of three European Restaurant Application Developer (RAD) awards from Microsoft.
MenuLink Computer Solutions, Inc., designs, develops and markets software products that help restaurant operators control food and labor costs, thereby increasing their profits. MenuLink solutions interface with most major POS systems and accounting, payroll and human resources packages. Since 1994, over 275 quick-service and casual chains, consisting of more then 7,000 locations, have successfully installed the back-office application.
