eBay leads in shopping destinations, says Nielsen/NetRatings

eBay hosted 13.5 million visitors the week that ended June 22, who stayed for an average of 41 minutes, 50 seconds. Amazon’s 8.9 million unique visitors stayed for an average of 8 minutes, 13 seconds.

 

EBay.com was the top shopping destination for the week June 22, beating number 2 by 52% in unique visitors, Nielsen/NetRatings reports. EBay hosted 13.5 million visitors that week, who interacted with the site for an average of 41 minutes, 50 seconds. Amazon’s 8.9 million unique visitors stayed for an average of 8 minutes, 13 seconds.

Rounding out the top 5 shopping destinations for the week were Yahoo Shopping, with 5.97 million visitors and an average stay of 4 minutes, 4 seconds; MSN Shopping, 2.92 million visitors and 1 minute 54 seconds ; and travel site Expedia, 2.66 million visitors and 10 minutes, 36 seconds.

Nielsen/NetRatings also measured the impressions that advertising by consumer goods marketers garnered during the week. PepsiCo Inc. led the list with 121.42 million impressions, followed by Sleep Angel Inc., with 81.39 million. Rounding out the top 10 were:
Altria Group Inc., 49.04 million
CITGO Petroleum Corp., 45.75 million
The Procter & Gamble Co., 44.9 million
Meredith Corp., 39.63 million
FemaleAdvantage.com, 38.82 million
Entertainment Publications, 24.14 million
Boomerang Tags, 23.01 million
Unilever, 18.63 million.

All consumer goods advertisers generated 1.091 billion online ad impressions for the week.
