Steve Klingler Named Vice President of Application Outsourcing

June 9, 2003; Chicago – At Retail Systems 2003, Tomax Corporation today announced a new outsourcing service to match its Retail.net suite of retail operations management applications. Tomax Application Outsourcing offers two levels of outsourcing services:

• Hosting: Complete application hosting at the Tomax data center, including servers and disk storage, physical location, server racks, network infrastructure, power, and backup services.
• Application Administration: Services-only package that provides system and database administration for Retail.net software, application and database servers, and the database itself, including all routine maintenance and upgrades. The physical location can be at Tomax, the retailer’s own facility, or a third party data center (including Oracle Outsourcing).

Tomax Takes Leadership Position in Retail Outsourcing

Tomax has already established a leadership position by contracting to provide outsourcing services to eight customers representing more than 1,300 retail stores. The company expects to grow this number by another 50% over the next two quarters, with up to 80% of all new retail software implementations outsourced by 2005.

“Application outsourcing is a natural complement to our retail-in-realtime value proposition,” said Eric Olafson, President and CEO of Tomax. “High availability and proper system maintenance becomes more important as retailers embrace centralized databases and network deployed solutions like the Retail.net suite.”
