COLUMBUS, June 9, 2003 – Retail Forward, Columbus-based retail research and strategy consulting firm, is pleased to announce that Jim Crawford has joined the company as a Vice President. In this position, Crawford will manage the company’s syndicated E-Retail Intelligence System® and will consult on the use of emerging technologies in the retail industry.

Crawford has ten years of experience in technology management for Fortune 500 companies and specializes in multi-channel retail integration, next-generation store technology, and the use of RFID in retail.
During his career, Crawford has delivered a variety of research and consulting services to retailers and technology vendors including Limited Brands, Borders, JC Penney, Marks & Spencer, J. Sainsbury, Intel, Microsoft, Retek, NCR, and SAP.
Crawford was formerly a retail analyst with Forrester Research, where he published reports on retail technology topics ranging from building smarter stores to streamlining e-commerce fulfillment. Prior to that, he was Director of Internet Marketing for the Nautilus Group, where he oversaw all aspects of the company’s e-marketing and Web strategies.
Crawford has extensive experience speaking at industry conferences and events, including Frontline, the Global Retail Technology Forum, Retail Systems, RFIDWorld, and the National Retail Federation. He is frequently quoted in national and international media outlets such as The Wall Street Journal, Executive Technology, STORES, Forbes, Time, CNBC, and CNET.
Crawford was educated at the Johns Hopkins University, majoring in English with a concentration on hypertext theory and minoring in women’s studies.
