eBay leads online shopping destinations, Nielsen/NetRatings reports

EBay.com was the top online shopping destination for the week before Memorial Day, hosting 12.1 million unique visitors, nearly 50% more than No. 2 Amazon.com’s 8.4 million, Nielsen/NetRatings reports.

EBay.com was the top online shopping destination for the week before Memorial Day, hosting 12.1 million unique visitors, nearly 50% more than No. 2 Amazon.com’s 8.4 million, Nielsen/NetRatings reports. Rounding out the top 5 shopping destinations for the week ending May 25 were Yahoo Shopping, with 5.4 million; MSN Shopping, with 2.7 million; and travel site Expedia, with 2.3 million.

EBay engaged customers for the longest period, with an average stay of 45 minutes, 11 seconds. Next longest was Expedia, at 10 minutes, 6 seconds. Amazon engaged customers for 7 minutes, 48 seconds; Yahoo Shopping for 5 minutes, 14 seconds; and MSN Shopping for 1 minute, 53 seconds.

Among consumer goods online advertisers, Pepsi garnered the most impressions, with 385.5 million for the week. Next were: Avon Products, with 155.8 million; Sleep Angel, with 54.2 million; Campbell Soup, with 54.1 million and Estee Lauder, with 43.6 million.

Ad impressions for consumer goods advertisers totaled 1.39 billion for the week. The data come from Nielsen/NetRatings AdRelevance Report.
