The web run-up to Valentine’s Day

Valentine’s Day is driving web shopping activity, reports Nielsen/NetRatings, with at-home users to 1-800-Flowers.com growing 24% last week over the prior week.

Valentine’s Day is driving web shopping activity, reports Nielsen/NetRatings. Traffic to 1-800-Flowers.com, for instance, grew 24% last week over the week before to 233,000 unique at-home visitors while traffic to upscale gift retailer RedEnvelope.com grew 33%, Nielsen/NetRatings reports.

Nielsen/NetRatings also reports that many Valentine-oriented sites are promoting next day delivery so customers can shop until Feb. 13.

Traffic to restaurant-related sites also is spiking, as web users look for dining pacers for Valentine’s dates, Nielsen/NetRatings reports. Traffic to Citysearch.com jumped 15% from the week before to 654,000 unique visitors.
