Third-quarter sales at ToysRUs.com rose 50% over the year-ago period to $59 million from $39 million, Toys R Us Inc. said. Online sales far out-paced a 4% rise in overall sales. Web sales account for 2.6% of overall sales, up from 1.8% a year ago.
The company said its third-quarter operating loss for ToysRUs.com narrowed by 29% to $12 million from $17 million a year ago. Its fiscal third quarter ended Nov. 2.
It said overall Q3 worldwide net sales for Toys R Us were $2.27 billion, up from $2.18 billion a year ago, resulting in an operating loss of $16 million and a net loss of $28 million.
