MarketLive Intelligent Selling System Provides New E-Commerce Functionality and a Top-Notch Customer Experience

Petaluma, CA -- October 11, 2002 -- Multimedia Live (MML) (http://www.mmlive.com), the leading developer of e-commerce technology and services for Intelligent Selling(tm) on the Web, announced today that it has created and launched a new e-commerce website for apparel and home products cataloger Midnight Velvet (http://www.midnightvelvet.com). Multimedia Live`s Java(tm)-based MarketLive(tm) Intelligent Selling System(tm) e-commerce platform is the technological core of the new site. Multimedia Live also designed the new user interface and integrated the new site with Midnight Velvet`s legacy database, back-end applications, and their Choose `N Charge(r) credit card system.

Midnight Velvet offers a wide array of elegant and stylish products, from women`s fashions to furniture, bedding, and decorative accents for the home. The company places a strong emphasis on customer service and on making the shopping experience easy and enjoyable for its customers, many of whom were shopping through Midnight Velvet catalogs for years before online shopping became common. Multimedia Live`s expertise in creating user-friendly websites with rich e-commerce functionality heavily influenced Midnight Velvet`s selection of the company and its MarketLive product. Other key factors were the MarketLive product`s large suite of marketing tools, powerful and flexible merchandising and data analysis capabilities, and easy-to-use administration system.

The MarketLive-powered front-end was integrated with Midnight Velvet`s legacy back-end database system, allowing the company to avoid the expense of adopting a new back-end system just for its website. Multimedia Live also integrated Midnight Velvet`s popular Choose `N Charge credit service into the website, making it easy for customers to use their Choose `N Charge account to buy merchandise online. A specially designed user interface lets customers check the status of their Choose `N Charge account via the website, whether their purchases were made online or off.

This new site takes full advantage of the MarketLive product`s complete set of merchandising tools. One example is the way it handles merchandising kickers: small images that appear on most pages and link to featured products or promotions. As with all products, images, and other information on MarketLive-based websites, kickers are fully administrable through a user-friendly interface. On the Midnight Velvet site they are also tied to a new MarketLive data analysis and reporting feature called kicker tracking. Kicker tracking reports on the success of kicker links, letting the merchandiser know which kickers were clicked on, which customers did the clicking, and which kickers actually generated sales. This feature can be very effective when combined with online campaigns.
