BENTONVILLE, Ark., Sept. 9 -- Wal-Mart Stores, Inc. (NYSE: WMT) has selected iSoft Corporation`s Commerce Suite Software to provide Electronic Data Interchange-Internet Integration (EDIINT) using the AS2 (Applicability Statement 2) protocol. By implementing AS2, Wal-Mart will provide domestic and international suppliers the ability to send and receive electronic data globally without the use of value added networks (VANs).

The expense savings found in EDIINT AS2 will assist Wal-Mart and its suppliers in lowering costs while continuing to provide everyday low prices for customers.

EDIINT was first introduced 5 years ago by the Internet Engineering Task Force (IETF). The IETF is a large, open international community of network designers, operators, vendors and researchers concerned with the evolution of the Internet architecture and the smooth operation of the Internet. The EDIINT standard allows secure communications over IP based networks such as the Internet.

The Commerce Suite Software by iSoft Corporation will provide trading community management, public key infrastructure technology and IP-based secure communication infrastructure. Data transmitted over public and private global networks using AS2 will be digitally signed, secure and non-repudiated.

EDIINT will add value and improved functionality to Wal-Mart suppliers and customers. Substantial improvement in transmission speed with enhanced security on transmitted business data is expected.

"We are excited about our relationship with Wal-Mart," said Christian Putnam, founder and chief executive officer of iSoft Corp. "Our product offering provides mission critical reliability, scalability and the performance necessary to handle Wal-Mart`s trading volume. We believe the architecture and design of Wal-Mart`s secure internal and external communications utilizing our technology will serve as the method of choice for secure peer-to-peer business communications for years to come."
