YTD online sales are up 28% over last year, comScore reports

Through Aug. 18, consumers had spent $24.9 billion online in retail goods and event tickets, up 28% over last year’s $19.4 billion by Aug. 17.

Through Aug. 18, consumers had spent $24.9 billion online in retail goods and event tickets, up 28% over last year’s $19.4 billion by Aug. 17, comScore Networks Inc. reported today. Travel spending online reached $19.3 billion, up 59% over last year.

ComScore reports the top sales categories this year are:
Computer Hardware, $6.1 billion, up 41%
Office Supplies & Stationery, $3.9 billion, up 51%
Apparel & Accessories, $3.1 billion, up 3%
Consumer Electronics, $1.8 billion, up 5%
Event Tickets, $1.5 billion, up 59%
Books, $1.3 billion, up 5%
Home & Garden, $1.1 billion, up 73%
Health & Beauty, $749 million, up 32%
Sport & Fitness, $620 million, up 71%
Movies & Video, $543 million, up 36%.
