Smithsonian catalog and web site hire PFSweb for outsourcing

PFSweb Inc. has signed a five-year contract with anticipated revenue of $14 million with Smithsonian Business Ventures to provide outsourcing services in support of the Smithsonian catalog and web site.

PFSweb Inc. has signed a five-year contract with anticipated revenue of $14 million with Smithsonian Business Ventures to provide outsourcing services in support of the Smithsonian catalog and its web site, SmithsonianStore.com, PFSweb announced today. Smithsonian Business Ventures operates all businesses and revenue-producing activities of the Smithsonian Institution.

The Smithsonian mails 20 million catalogs annually.

PFSweb will provide inventory management, distribution and fulfillment services, customer service, order management, letter shop services, credit card processing and reverse logistics management.

“The addition to our client list of the Smithsonian, an organization known worldwide as a repository of historic and scientific treasures, reinforces the belief that our business outlook is promising,” said Mark C. Layton, CEO of PFSweb. “The long-term $14 million contract will enable us to leverage certain existing infrastructure to provide them with an integrated, operational solution.”
