Yahoo harnesses the power of its portal to launch a sale

Through Friday, Yahoo will offer consumers access to 1,000 sales and promotional offers from retailers and travel suppliers. Coupled with the sale will be discounts on a dozen Yahoo services.

Yahoo today launched what it is calling the biggest sale in Internet history. Through Friday, Yahoo will offer consumers access to 1,000 sales and promotional offers on thousands of products from retailers and travel suppliers. Coupled with the sale will be discounts on a dozen Yahoo services.

"The Biggest Sale In Internet History highlights Yahoo`s ability to offer innovative, unique programs only possible on the Internet," said John Costello, chief marketing officer of Yahoo Inc. "This is truly a one-of-a-kind event that leverages our vast relationships with brand name retailers and travel suppliers."

Among the offers:
--Sears: 0% financing on Kenmore appliances, free delivery on Kenmore washers, dryers and refrigerators, $25-$250 cash back on Kenmore & Kenmore Elite built in cooking appliances
-- HPshopping.com: $75 off all customized Hewlett-Packard desktop and notebook PC`s
-- Brooks Brothers: 15% off everything
-- Circuit City: Free Palm m105 for purchasing a $149 cell phone

Yahoo will promote the sale throughout the Yahoo portal and through radio and print advertising.
