28,000 Employees Use Docent to Drive In-Store Training And Career Development For Superior Customer Satisfaction For 3 Million Customers
MOUNTAIN VIEW, Calif. – January 28, 2002 - Docent, Inc. (NASDAQ: DCNT), the premier provider of eLearning solutions for Global 2000 companies, has been chosen by B&Q;, the UK`s number one Do-It-Yourself retailer and part of the largest garden and hardware retailer in Europe, to provide its entire eLearning infrastructure. Following successful implementation, the Docent infrastructure now provides more than 28,000 users in over 310 stores access to online courses offering an introduction to eLearning, health and safety topics and basic IT skills. These courses help B&Q; staff deliver improved customer satisfaction to more than three million customers every week.
Docent Enterprise, an integrated product suite for both learning management and learning content development and delivery, is at the heart of B&Q;`s personalized eLearning platform. Docent was chosen because of its ease-of-use, simple navigation and intuitive user interface. B&Q; is famous for its policy of employing older workers. It was important that all employees quickly adapt to an in-store environment that is increasingly dependent on new technology.
“Docent Enterprise required minimum customization to deliver the corporate look and feel of B&Q.; It is highly scalable, allowed us to roll out our eLearning solution to over 28,000 employees very quickly,” said Adrian Jones, eTraining manager, B&Q.; “We`ve seen considerable cost savings already through decreased time to deliver training modules and increased confidence in employees who have been trained on the platform. These are just the immediate benefits - the medium-term benefit will be increased customer satisfaction with more knowledgeable people in the stores to serve our customers.”
The decision to invest in Docent Enterprise came after an intensive one-month trial period. Employee feedback during the trial indicated that Docent Enterprise met B&Q;`s needs for an easy to install, easy to use, scalable and cost effective eLearning solution.
“B&Q;`s choice of Docent to power its in-store training and career development illustrates how a successful retailer can improve sales productivity and customer satisfaction,” said Dave Ellett, Chairman and CEO, Docent. “Docent Enterprise was designed from the ground up to be a scalable, easy-to-use platform that can be customized for a wide range of user skills and experience.”
