Turnkey offering invites retailers to increase shopper interest, loyalty and spending
NEW YORK - Jan. 15, 2002 - Retailers seeking to attract more shopper traffic, purchasing and loyalty through multiple points of service can now add Web-enabled automated-teller machines (ATMs) to the mix. Fujitsu Transaction Solutions Inc., through a strategic partnership with Inabled Online Corp., introduced today its Web-enabled Series 8000 ATMs as part of a complete offering that delivers ATMs, big-screen interactive displays and real-time content delivery that includes news, weather reports and in-store advertising and messaging.
Fujitsu showcased the offering today at the National Retail Federation`s 91st Annual Expo and Convention, Jan. 13-16, 2002, at the Jacob Javits Convention Center in New York, and is demonstrating its capabilities at Fujitsu booth #503/517.
"ATMs and digital content delivery come together as a turnkey opportunity for retailers seeking ways to generate in-store excitement, customer loyalty and additional revenue," said Ron Omohundro, executive vice president and general manager at Fujitsu Transaction Solutions Inc. "This is the first time a retailer, working with only one vendor, can get a turnkey solution that incorporates ATMs and instant, interactive digital promotions and signage along with a complete retail store solution. Fujitsu is truly a retailer`s only total lifecycle solution provider."
Fujitsu, in partnership with Inabled Online Corp., based in La Jolla, Calif., provides retailers with an innovative in-store marketing channel that complements existing in-store marketing programs. The offering centers on a Web-enabled ATM as a valuable self-service point for customers. The ATM connects to a 42-inch high-definition plasma display panel (PDP) to present real-time advertising and content. "Together, Fujitsu and Inabled provide innovative lifecycle solutions," said Omohundro. "Digital promotions are perfect for retailers who seek inventive ways to win customers at the point of purchase, thereby increasing in-store sales."
Research indicates that in-store ATMs can increase retail sales by as much as 20 percent. Combined with advertising capabilities, digital signage and relevant, customer-focused content, a Fujitsu Series 8000 ATM can transform from a simple cash dispenser into a colorful, interactive marketing channel that delivers enhanced customer service, increased sales and a rapid return on investment.
The ATM digital signage solution is an intuitive tool for users who - via coupons and promotions - are encouraged to use the appliance. The store customer can view a product promotion, delivered by Inabled, on a large Fujitsu plasma screen. The customer will be able to touch the PDP`s interactive button and obtain a discount coupon at an adjoining Fujitsu ATM. The solution is quick, easy to operate and profitable for retailers.
"Visual merchandising has developed in the last three years into a major media channel," said Bill Haynor, president of Inabled. "Our company drives three types of content to Fujitsu`s plasma screens: advertisements; real-time information such as weather, sports and news; and retailer-specific offerings and promotions. We generate added value by managing all the media-buying relationships, allowing retailers to be retailers by focusing on their customers and operations." Interested retailers can purchase a bundled suite that includes an ATM for cash dispensing, the ATM switching network, a 42-inch PDP for advertising messages, paid advertising, and the broadband Internet pipeline to drive the messages. Retailers interested in this offering can choose from platinum, gold and silver program levels.
Pricing varies, depending on system requirements and the level of lifecycle management services provided, but starts at approximately $20,000.
