PayPal expands payment options with AmEx deal

Palo Alto, CA-based PayPal Inc., which has created a secure online payment method, can now process American Express cards, PayPal announced today.

American Express cardholders using the PayPal option at retail and auction sites will earn Membership Rewards points with each transaction, just as they do when they use their cards in other transactions.

PayPal has developed a system that enables any business or consumer with e-mail to send and receive online payments securely. PayPal`s network builds on the financial infrastructure of bank accounts and credit cards to create a global payment solution. PayPal says its 12 million registered users, including 2.1 million business accounts, send more than $10 million in 200,000 daily transactions.
