During the 2001 holiday shopping season, sales volume to the portal showed an 86% increase over the same period in 2000, well ahead of analysts’ holiday estimates of 10% growth, the company reports. Yahoo says users spent $10.3 billion online in the fourth quarter of 2001. Top-selling items for the season included videogame consoles such as GameCube and Xbox, digital cameras, Barbie toys, Sony Vaio laptops computers and apparel. Yahoo! Shopping ranked second on Nielsen//NetRatings’ list of top online shopping destinations.

Yahoo! Shopping also launched today its Post Holiday sale center, featuring offers from major retailers such as Eddie Bauer, Godiva, Banana Republic and Old Navy.
