Just as they do in department stores, Christian Dior Perfumes Inc. and Clarins want to control the presentation of their brands in online stores. Both have signed agreements with iMediation to use the iChannel product to develop web presentations and deliver them to online retail sites on demand.
A manufacturer who wants to control the look and feel of its products across multiple retail web sites can create its own web presentation in iChannel, then host the presentation on its own servers or have iMediation host it. When a shopper at a retail site clicks on the manufacturer’s button, that shopper sees content that the manufacturer has created. The shopper never leaves the retailer’s online store; she simply views material delivered from somewhere other than the retailer’s server.
With the iChannel system, the manufacturer can also capture customer information, depending on the agreement that the manufacturer has with the retailer.
