Sportsman’s Guide’s web sales grow 61%

Web sales represent 21% of all third quarter sales at The Sportsman`s Guide, accounting for $7.66 million of the company’s total sales of $36.5 million.

Web sales represent 21% of all third quarter sales at The Sportsman`s Guide Inc., a web and catalog seller of outdoor clothing and equipment, the company reported today. Of the company’s total sales of $36.5 million in the quarter, web sales accounted for $7.66 million. Overall sales were up 23% from $29.6 million a year earlier, while web sales were up 61.6% from $4.74 million.

For the quarter, the Company reported a net loss of $124,000, down significantly from net loss of $692,000 a year earlier.

For the nine months ended Sept. 30, sales were $107.2 million, a 12% increase over $95.9 million for the first three quarters of 2000.

"Our improvement quarter over quarter and year over year is due to the continued successful implementation of a more effective and profitable mail plan and stronger Internet related sales activity,” said Gregory R. Binkley, president and CEO. “We look forward to returning to profitability in the fourth quarter and at levels that will enable us to report a profit for the year."

The company sells as www.sportsmansguide.com and www.bargainoutfitters.com.
