Integration of Tradeweave Retail Network Applications Enables Vendors to Speed Product to Market and More Effectively Manage Supply and Demand to Enhance Revenue Growth
Richmond, CA – November 12, 2001 – QRS Corporation (Nasdaq: QRSI), the leading provider of supply-chain management and e-commerce solutions for the retail industry, today announced the availability and integration of Tradeweaveä Collaborative Merchandising 6.0, an application that enables vendors to effectively manage the merchandising and selling processes, and Tradeweave Sourcing 6.0, an application that helps retailers and vendors effectively manage the global sourcing of goods. Both products were developed in conjunction with QRS customers to address the challenges that general merchandise and apparel vendors face in managing and growing their businesses.
"The retail industry is confronted by a series of complex supply-chain issues on a daily basis," said Jeff Roster, senior analyst for Gartner Dataquest. "Recent world events have demonstrated the need to have a nimble supply chain that can quickly respond to changing business conditions. The ability to share information in near-real time gives retailers the opportunity to quickly respond to unforeseen conditions."
Tradeweave Collaborative Merchandising 6.0 enables vendors to more effectively manage the merchandise planning process and gives them a better way to work with retailers. Vendors can create styles, develop line lists and buy plans and build customer assortment plans and orders via the Web – before, during and after market week. The Tradeweave Collaborative Merchandising product enhancements were developed in conjunction with one of the top branded apparel vendors in the United States.
Tradeweave Sourcing 6.0, which features a Web-based interface, has been enhanced to improve the product development process and ordering functions. Federated Department Stores, a long-standing and valued QRS customer, played an integral role in the development of this next-generation product. Tradeweave Sourcing 6.0 drives product development by starting the item creation process earlier, and introduces a point-and-click ordering screen and image line list that simplify the generation and placement of orders.
"Managing a series of complex retail and wholesale business processes requires collaboration among trading partners," explained Jennifer Pritchard, senior manager for Kurt Salmon Associates. "Tradeweave Collaborative Merchandising and Tradeweave Sourcing establish a foundation for communication, automation and visibility that will impact the entire cycle, from sourcing through sales."
"Working with key vendors and retailers early on in the development process enabled QRS to develop comprehensive products based upon real-world merchandising and sourcing needs," said Sean Salehi, chief technology officer for QRS. "Tradeweave Collaborative Merchandising and Sourcing 6.0 were designed to close the loop between product development, sourcing, production, merchandising and sales – putting an end to the era of manual planning and replacing the paper trail with a robust, flexible and scalable Web-based solution."
Tradeweave Collaborative Merchandising and Tradeweave Sourcing are fully integrated into QRS` Tradeweave Retail Network. Both products share the same technical underpinnings and information architecture, and adhere to industry standards for easy migration into and integration with enterprise systems. In addition, the new applications give vendors a platform from which to address at-market merchandise-planning activities, source goods, choose suppliers, perform costing, create line lists, generate purchase orders to suppliers, manage production and track delivery of goods on a worldwide basis.
