BMG beefs up its search technology
BMG Direct’s BMGMusicService.com is integrating Netrics` LikeIt search technology into its web site.
Online retailers are becoming more convinced of the importance of accurate search on their sites. Thus many are turning to specialized search software and away from the search that comes with their e-commerce package. The latest retailer to go the specialized route: BMG Direct’s BMGMusicService.com which is integrating Netrics Inc.’s LikeIt search technology into its web site.
“With the LikeIt Technology from Netrics, the BMGMusicService.com web site will offer our members the best possible overall shopping experience,” said Richard Truitt, vice president of application development with BMG Direct. “It also was critically important to us that the search technology we chose be easy to integrate with our existing IT architecture. Netrics search software fit those requirements nicely.”
Netrics says its LikeIt technology tolerates virtually any input, even those containing errors in spelling or syntax. The software searches the e?commerce site’s database for items that are similar or like the query.
“A critical element of any e?commerce site,” said Stefanos Damianakis, president and CEO of Netrics, “is that people who visit a site wanting to make a purchase must be able to find what they want quickly and easily. This means the search technology has to be fast and accurate or the customer will become frustrated. When that occurs, the actual sale itself is in jeopardy.”
