JCPenney.com sales continue their upward move

Sales at JCPenney.com have grown 40.5% in the first six months of 2001 from the first six months of 2000.

JCPenney.com of Plano, TX, reported June sales today of $20 million, up 11.1% from. $18 million in June 2000. For the year to date, JCPenney.com’s sales totaled $111 million, up 40.5% from $79 million in last year`s comparable period.

J.C. Penney’s department store sales were up 1.2% in June to $1.23 billion from $1.21 billion. Drug store sales grew 5.8% for the month.

Companywide sales for June dropped 0.8% to $2.77 billion.
