The Yankee Group gives seven e-retailers a perfect score in executing its seven key factors for online retailing success.
Boston’s Yankee Group defines winning business models in terms of seven key strategies, and in its release today of the “Yankee Group Stars,” gives seven e-retailers a perfect score on both strategy and execution. Making the cut (listed in alphabetical order) are Chadwicks.com , CrateandBarrel.com , FragranceNet.com , JCPenney.com , LandsEnd.com , SharperImage.com and Target.com . Yankee’s seven key criteria, ranging from sites’ focus on the sale of goods with sufficient gross margins to their ability to provide impeccable customer support across channels, was developed by examining the business models and performance of a variety of web merchants over the past several months. “Executing effectively on all seven factors simultaneously is not an easy task, but these firms have done an impressive job in each area,” says Paul Ritter, director of Yankee’s online retail strategies planning service. “Success in our minds means operating well on all aspects of a sound business plan that leverages the Internet as a sales channel.”
