RedEnvelope.com leads the growth race

15 major web sites experienced a tripling or greater of volume during the 2000 holiday shopping season

RedEnvelope.com led e-retailers in growth in page views in December, says the latest report from Alexa Research, an Internet research company that is a subsidiary of Amazon.com. RedEnvelope`s page views (that is, total number of pages viewed by all visitors) in December grew 507% over its October numbers. No. 2 was Walmart.com, whose page views grew 495% over October, reflecting the successful re-launch of Walmart.com. Next were firstauction.com, up 429%, sonystyle.com, up 426% and circuitcity.com, up 380%. The top15 were rounded out by servicemerchandise.com, bananarepublic.com, fungerhut.com, overstock.com, planetoutdoors.com, fragrancenet.com, ashford.com, macys.com, zanybrainy.com and eddiebauer.com.
