Macys.com hit by hackers

Don Davis

Editor in Chief

Over this past weekend, Macys.com had an apparent breach in security. Some shoppers attempted to use unauthorized coupon codes on the site. A company spokesman says the breach was detected over the weekend and the company is now examining the validity of orders placed using these codes. He will not say how many purchases were made or their dollar value. He says the company is purposely being tight-lipped to prevent copycat incidents. He will not say if the codes came from another site. This is the first such incident at macys.com.
