And another online retailer is adding an offline presence. Beautymerchant.com Inc., an Internet retailer of cosmetics, fragrances and personal care products for women, says that it is developing a prototype store offering beauty retailing and beauty services, including hair styling and nail services. Initial plans are for a prototype store in Broward County, Florida, as soon as appropriate locations are selected, and Las Vegas. Two stores are expected to be developed in the South Florida area.

Through its web site, the Fort Lauderdale, Fla.-based company now sells about 8,500 products, including name-brand cosmetics and designer fragrances and personal care products for women. The merchant has established advertising relationships with MSN and Shopnow.com, it says.
