Editor in Chief

Lands' End has launched a full-service e-commerce web site in Italy. The launch is the sixth international e-commerce site launched by Lands' End during the past 12 months. The site is written in Italian, denominated in Italian lira and features approximately 1,000 clothing styles for men and women. Lands End web sites in the UK, Germany and Japan were launched last November. The company launched sites for Ireland and France during September and October of this year. All are written in local language and denominated in local currency. Between 1991 and 1996, Lands' End launched three international catalog operations in the UK, Japan and Germany. Of the company's six new sites, the French, Italian and Irish sites are Internet-only. For these new Internet operations, orders are fulfilled and shipped from the company's European warehouse in Oakham, England, with two to five working day delivery to all locations. Local addresses for customer returns are provided in each country, with customer service in local language provided by sales and service representatives based in England and Germany.
